What is Catalyst?
A catalyst creates change that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.
In chemistry, a catalyst is a substance that accelerates a reaction without being consumed by it. It doesn’t do the work for you — it creates the conditions that make the work possible.
That’s what Catalyst Performance Lab is built to be. Not a place that trains you, but a place that changes how you move, how long you stay in the game, and how much you enjoy every moment of it.
The Catalyst Way
We train the whole athlete. Not just the muscles — the movement patterns, the mechanics, and the mindset that allow people to perform, recover, and thrive for the long haul.
Most training in the modern era has shifted toward measurable outputs: velocity, force, wattage. These are valuable — but they’re outputs. What produces them, and what sustains them, is a foundation built on movement quality, kinetic chain mechanics, and a balance of strength, mobility, and longevity. That foundation is what we build at Catalyst.
What Is the Kinetic Chain?
Almost every powerful athletic movement is rotational. A swing. A throw. A change of direction. A clean lift. Even picking up your child. These movements don’t start at the arm or the shoulder — they start at the ground and travel through a sequence of body segments before reaching their endpoint.
That sequence is the kinetic chain. When it’s trained properly, athletes move with greater power, efficiency, and control. When it’s ignored, athletes compensate — and compensations lead to plateaus, inefficiency, and injury. At Catalyst, training the kinetic chain isn’t a feature of our approach. It’s the foundation.
Who We’re For
Catalyst is located in Northville, Michigan, and trains athletes of every age and level. Junior golfers and competitive throwers. College athletes and recreational players. Adults who want to move better, feel stronger, and stay active for the long haul.
We believe that athleticism isn’t reserved for the elite. It’s a capacity that every person carries — and one that can be developed at any age, with the right approach. Whatever your goal, there’s a place for you here.
